From lugging around a trunk full of odorous equipment to all those early morning rides to the rink, hockey moms are especially worthy of appreciation on Mother’s Day.
And if you’re looking for a last-minute gift for a mom who happens to be a hockey fan, Game 4 of the Bruins-Hurricanes first-round playoff series might present a prime opportunity.
Tickets for the Mother’s Day matinee were going for a relative bargain as Boston headed home facing a 2-0 series deficit, with the secondary market showing balcony seats for as little as $77, even on the team-verified Ticketmaster site. That’s not all that much more than the face value of each ducat, and there were dozens available at a similar discount in advance of Friday night’s Game 3.
To put it in further perspective, similar seats for a prospective Game 6 were going for about twice as much, in the event the Bruins get the series back to TD Garden later in the week. And around the city there are a number of restaurants where it’ll cost you more per person for brunch than it would to get you into a building that should be buzzing in a playoff atmosphere.
With an early afternoon start, there’ll still be time to sit around the table later in the day – even if you first spend some time sitting around the ice.
