Lace up your running shoes and join a rainbow-clad crowd June 11 for the second annual Road of Rainbows 5k.
With a course that loops around Boston Common, the Road of Rainbows is an inclusive race open to all LGBTQ+ folks and supporters — anyone who wants to show off their “inner unicorn” is welcome.
The event is hosted by the Boston Theater Company and, beyond the race, also features a festival with local drag queens, musicians and more, according to the event site. Attendees are encouraged to run or walk, and “help break down the barriers between athletics and the arts.”
The family-friendly sporting event with no shortage of costumes and festivities will be co-hosted by Sean William Donovan, a senior experience manager at Barry’s, and David J. Castillo, a Road of Rainbows counselor.
The festival will feature performances from Red Shaydez, Stef Anya, and Penny Tentiary. Kennedy Elsey, from Karson & Kennedy on Mix 104.1, will be the “head human in charge of the costume contest.” The winner of the costume contest will take home a $1,500 gift card to Jordan’s Furniture.
