Ride the ferry to Spectacle Island for free this weekend

Boston Harbor Islands opening weekend is offering free rides to Spectacle Island May 17-18, 2025.

The start of summer means opening season for the Boston Harbor Islands, and to celebrate, they’re offering free ferry rides to Spectacle Island this weekend, May 17 and 18.

Free tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis, available for pick up starting at 8 a.m. at the Boston Harbor City Cruises Ferry Center at Long Wharf North. Adults are limited to five tickets per person.

Spectacle Island is one of the 34 Boston Harbor Islands, and features 114-acres of land to explore. Hike, walk, swim, and more while taking in the Island’s panoramic views of the Boston Harbor.

Ferries depart to Spectacle Island at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and return ferries run at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Plan to be in line 15 minutes before departure.
