Seisiún, an Irish music festival and cultural gathering, is set to arrive in Boston on Sept. 6 and 7. The festival will blend Irish music and emerging American artists.

The performances will be held at The Stage at Suffolk Downs, according to The Bowery Presents.

Dropkick Murphys and The Pogues will headline the two-day festival.

“It’s great to have such a big-time Irish festival back in Boston,” said Ken Casey of Dropkick Murphys in a statement. “It’s gonna be an awesome weekend with friends and family, and we can’t wait to split it with The Pogues, who we have so many great memories with.”

Other artists such as The Hold Steady, The Waterboys, Cardinals, The Rumjacks, and Lisa O’Neill will perform, along with additional artists that will be announced later.

Tickets will go live for the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21.

Dropkick Murphys, originally from Quincy, Mass., kicked off their annual series of St. Patrick’s Day shows in Boston this past Friday. Their song “Shipping up to Boston” has been a staple for Bostonians and is played during the eighth inning of each Red Sox home game.

The Pogues is an English punk band from King’s Cross, England. This performance will be the first time the founding members have played in the U.S. in 20 years. The band’s performance will be in memory and celebration of the life of their former frontman Shane MacGowan, who died in 2023.

Seisiún was co-founded by Joe Killian and Liam Lynch, two of the original founding producers of the Fleadh Festival in the late 1990s. The Fleadh played Suffolk Downs in 1999 to over 30,000 people.
