Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne will be bringing his new world tour to Boston for two nights in October.

Byrne announced his pending “Who is the Sky?” album on Tuesday. He will perform at the Boch Center Wang Theatre on Oct. 3 and 4. The album will be released on Sept. 5, but the first single, “Everybody Laughs,” is available now.

The presale tickets go live on June 10 at 10 a.m. until June 12 at 10 a.m. The general ticket sale will open on June 13.

This is Byrne’s first album since “American Utopia” in 2018. Byrne brought back some of his collaborators from the 2018 album for “Who is the Sky?,” including percussionist Mauro Refosco.

The new album was produced by Kid Harpoon, who has worked with Harry Styles, Rihanna, and others.

“It took me a second to realize, oh yeah, these songs are personal, but with David’s unique perspective on life in general,” said Kid Harpoon, a.k.a. Tom Hull, in a statement. “Walking around New York listening to the demo of ‘Everybody Laughs’ was so joyous, because it made me feel like we’re all the same — we all laugh, cry and sing. The thing about David that resonates with a lot of people is that he’s in on the joke. He gets the absurdity of it all, and all of these personal observations are his perspective on it.”

The 12 songs on the album were arranged by members of the Ghost Train Orchestra.

David Byrne rose to fame as a founding member, singer, and guitarist for the Talking Heads. The band’s impact led to many awards including the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021 and their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

The singer did solo work outside of the band, and released “Rei Momo,” his first album after leaving the Talking Heads, in 1989. He has since released eight more albums.
