Celebrate National Beer Day and National Burrito day — both April 7 this year — with a unique sour brewed to perfectly combine beer and burritos.
Brought to you by Harpoon Brewery and Anna’s Taqueria, the sour is inspired by a hibiscus drink called Jamaica that Anna’s serves. Harpoon combined hibiscus petals with actual Anna’s tortillas in a limited-edition kettle sour resulting in a 5.5% ABV beer with a “refreshingly tart twist with a touch of malty sweetness and fruit-forward modern hops,” according to a release.
The first chance to taste the new creation is next Wednesday, April 6. Harpoon is hosting a special edition of Trivia in the Taproom to premier the sour, complemented by Anna’s chips, guacamole, and salsa.
There will be two hour-long games of trivia, and there are prizes for first and second place. First place will win Harpoon Beer Hall and Anna’s gift cards, and second place will go home with a Harpoon x Anna’s Swag bag.
“Anna’s Taqueria has been serving the Boston area for more than 25 years, and Harpoon’s roots in Boston date back to the 80s. It only feels natural for the city’s favorite burritos and best craft beer to create something delicious together,” Betsy Kamio, the owner of Anna’s Taqueria, said in a statement. “We are proud to share this Anna’s-inspired brew with our friends in Boston and beyond.”
The Harpoon Anna’s Taqueria Jamaica Sour will be available on draft and in 16 oz. four-packs. It will be available at Harpoon’s Boston Beer Hall, Harpoon Taproom and Beer Garden, and throughout New England where Harpoon beers are distributed.
“We are so excited to work with Anna’s on a unique beer that incorporates some fun new ingredients but also pairs perfectly with everything on their menu,” Dan Kenary, CEO and co-founder of Harpoon Brewery, said in a statement.
