After a COVID-caused three-year hiatus, the Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game will make its return this summer.

Sure to feature some of the best college baseball players in the country, the midseason matchup between teams from the East and West divisions will take place at Wareham’s Spillane Field on July 23. First pitch on that Saturday night is slated for 6 p.m., though the festivities have in the past included a full afternoon of fun highlighted by the opportunity to watch batting practice and a home run derby.

Rosters will be determined by the players’ performances over the first half of the season, but there are almost certainly to be multiple future major leaguers on the field that night – and potentially even players who’ll someday play for the American or National Leagues as big-league All-Stars. In recent years, the number of CCBL alumni playing in the majors has hovered around 300 per season, with a total of about 1,400 players having graduated from the Cape to the bigs, as of October 2019.
