Go to ‘Laurel Hell’ with Mitski over two nights at Roadrunner (SOLD OUT)

The singer-songwriter will take the stage for a sold-out crowd on March 21 and 22.

Both of Mitski’s shows at Roadrunner are sold out, unless you’re willing to shell out for secondary market tickets. But that probably shouldn’t be much of a surprise: It is, after all, not the first time she’s sold out a show, and for good reason.

At a sold-out show in Columbus, Ohio back in March 2019, the singer-songwriter captivated the audience, according to a reviewer for The Lantern, the student newspaper for Ohio State University.

“No matter the amount of attention or involvement Mitski had, or even her own music — standing stoic, pacing or performing interpretive dances — the audience was enthralled,” Colin Gay wrote at the time.

At this particular show, Gay wrote that the height of it was at the end — when it was just Mitski alone on stage with a guitar, no band to back her up.

“She sang a beautiful and haunting rendition of her song ‘A Burning Hill,’ to a silent crowd that hung onto every lyric like it was its own,” according to the review.

There’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a Mitski fan. Not only is she back on the road, she also has a new album on the way, Rolling Stone reported. “Laurel Hell” is due out on Feb. 4.

It’s an interesting name choice, and Mitski elaborated on it to Rolling Stone.

“She named her latest, ‘Laurel Hell,’ after a folk term for the thickets of mountain laurel found deep in the southern Appalachians,” the article said. “The flowers are gorgeous, like little rhododendrons, but the plant is poisonous, with low, twisted branches that are impossible to pass through. ‘There are laurel hells that are named after people who died in them, supposedly,’ she says.”

Mitski is set to play her shows on March 21 and 22 beginning at 8 p.m. both nights.
