A variety of hip-hop stars are headed for TD Garden on July 23 to bring the beat.

As part of Dope Shows Summer Time Series, rappers including GHerbo, Lil Durk, Toure, and MillyZ will take the stadium stage.

“We’re excited to be back in Boston. It’s a city we’ve been planning to get back to and now it’s coming to fruition,” Dope Shows’ cofounders, Stephen Piner and Jamir Shaw, said in a press release. “We’re bringing a whole new sound to the city this time around.”

Dil Durk and GHerbo are popular Chicago rappers, while Philadelphia native Toure will bring the sound of that city to Boston.

Headliner Lil Durk performed in Chicago in May, and there was much hometown flair in that show, according to Rolling Stone.

“The switch from vicious bars to heartfelt melodic crooning felt just like you were listening to a Durk album when he moved on to perform 2021 standouts like ‘The Voice’ and ‘Backdoor,’” the magazine wrote. “Before the two women seated in front of me could shout out their request to hear their favorite songs and see India, Durk’s fiancée, he fulfilled those wishes.”

GHerbo recently released an album, “25,” and much of it deals with survival, and facing hardships.

“His stories are all about seeing friends die and then striking out in vengeance,” Stereogum wrote. “Herbo does a lot of tough-talking on ’25,’ but he also attempts to imagine a reality where he and his peers don’t have to live under the constant threat of violent death.”
