Country singer Darius Rucker will headline “Quincy 400,” the celebration of 400 years of the city’s settlement, at an anniversary concert later this summer.
“This is a big year for Quincy, and I don’t think it gets much bigger than a first-class act like Darius Rucker packing our historic stadium for a special performance in celebration of Quincy’s 400th anniversary,” Quincy mayor Thomas Koch said in a statement.
Rucker and guest Austin Williams will perform a show at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m. The show is one of a series of events this year celebrating Quincy’s anniversary. A second concert, featuring a yet-to-be-announced artist, is also scheduled.
Presale tickets for Darius Rucker go on sale Tuesday, March 11 at 10 a.m. and will end when public sale goes live on Friday, March 14 at 10 a.m. To get access to presale tickets, sign up for the Quincy400 newsletter here. For public ticket sales, go here.
Rucker is a multi-Platinum artist who first rose to fame as the lead singer and guitarist of the band Hootie & the Blowfish. The Grammy Award-winning band sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, including their Double Diamond-certified debut Cracked Rear View.
Since beginning his solo career, Rucker earned four No. 1 albums on the Billboard country chart. He has also notched 10 No. 1 singles on country radio. Rucker won his third Grammy in 2014 for Best Solo Country Performance with his Diamond-certified version of “Wagon Wheel.” His version of the song is one of the top five best-selling country songs of all time.
