Bone Up Brewing Co. goes big for the Fifth Annual Horatio Day Beer Fest

This weekend-long celebration of barrel-aged beer also honors a mustachioed mascot.

For five years, Bone Up Brewing has been a destination for beer fans in Everett— and a mustachioed skeleton named Horatio has been the mom-and-pop shop’s mascot. This funny little face has cocked an eyebrow on plenty of cans and pint glasses, helping to set apart Bone Up Brewing and make their beers memorable. That’s why BUB kicks off each year with Horatio Day, a weekend-long celebration of their mascot and barrel-aged beers, complete with food pop-ups, fancy flights and bottles, and a commemorative goblet.

Coming up on Jan. 7 through Jan. 9, this year’s Horatio Day features more than a dozen different barrel-aged and wild-fermented beers, including Belgian styles and farmhouse ales, a smoked dark saison, a chocolate-orange stout aged in whiskey barrels, and more. Try them in the taproom with proof of full vaccination, or check out the online shop to order bottles for pickup. This year’s Horatio Day goblet is rimmed in gold and is available for preorder at $10 each.

Different local food vendors join the fun each day. On Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. find fried chicken sandwiches from Hot Chix; Bonetown BBQ is in the house on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.; and Lionheart Confections takes the Sunday brunch shift from noon to 3 p.m.

Presenting a physical vaccine card or a high-quality digital photo of your card, in addition to your picture ID, is required for visiting the taproom.
