For 20 consecutive years, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) has hosted its MLK Day community celebration in partnership with Citizens. On Monday, January 17, 2022, you’re invited once again to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. alongside your community. The event offers free admission to the museum, including access to its special exhibitions. It is open to all Massachusetts residents (you’ll need to bring validation of your zip code for free admission).
Experience over a dozen exhibitions, including Paper Stories, Layered Dreams: The Art of Ekua Holmes, which features more than 40 vibrant illustrations by the Roxbury native that reflect her commitment to Black imagery and representation. The open house is also your final chance to view Black Histories, Black Futures, the teen-curated exhibition focusing on works by 20th-century artists of color, which ends its successful run on MLK Day — exactly two years from its opening date.
Tickets are available in person on a first-come, first-served basis.
