The Fenway Alliance hosts its annual Opening Our Doors celebration this year on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. For one day only, the Alliance “opens the doors” of some of Boston’s most prestigious cultural institutions, like the Museum of Fine Arts, the Emerald Necklace, Symphony Hall, and the New England Conservatory.
Many of the events revolve around the Christian Science Plaza on Mass Ave. Last year’s festival saw activities at the plaza all day, like poetry and dance performances, a concert by the Boston Children’s Chorus, and other musical performances like drumming demonstrations. The plaza also hosted the Art Zone, where guests could create their own art with visiting artists, or participate in games and giveaways.
Other activities at last year’s Opening Our Doors included free admission to the Museum of Fine Arts and the MassArt Art Museum, a walking tour through the Fenway branch of Fredrick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace, a Fenway Studios open house, and outdoor performances by the New England Conservatory and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Opening Our Doors began in 2001, as the Fenway Alliance aimed to make historical Boston cultural spaces in Fenway and along the Avenue of the Arts more open to the public. This is their 21st annual celebration. For more information, like this year’s upcoming schedule and parking information, visit the event’s website.
