Boston University Bands celebrates its centennial with a long weekend of performances

This event provides the opportunity to celebrate music with the Boston University bands community and friends.

Boston University Bands will host a weekend-long series of events in celebration of 100 years of music-making. Open to everyone, this event provides the opportunity to celebrate music with the Boston University bands community and friends.

Below is the schedule of events:

Friday, Oct. 21

5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.: BU Men’s Hockey Pre-Game Reception

Join the BU pep band for light snacks, drinks, and refreshments at the Agganis Arena Friends and Family Lounge.

7 p.m. puck drop: BU Men’s Hockey Game

Attendees can cheer BU Men’s Ice Hockey as they open up Hockey East conference play against the University of Connecticut.

Saturday, Oct. 22

2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.: “100 Years of Bands at BU” Concert & Reception

Attendees can listen and watch the live mega-showcase of the athletic, concert, and jazz ensembles of the Boston University Bands program, featuring original compositions in honor of the 100th anniversary. 

7 p.m. dinner: BU Bands 100th Anniversary Celebration Dinner: 

Attendees can join the BU Bands community in a formal dinner with speeches from special guest speakers.

Sunday, Oct. 23

10:30 to 1 p.m.: BU Bands Celebration Brunch:

Attendees can wind down from the weekend with a casual brunch with the BU Bands community at the current Boston University Band Room.

This event takes place the same weekend as Boston University Family & Friends Weekend as well as the Head of the Charles Regatta, so anticipate heavier than normal traffic. On-campus parking is limited; BU’s campus is located along the Green Line B trains, as well as multiple bus routes through the MBTA.
