Jason Varitek will appear as a guest judge on ‘Chopped Junior’

Jason Varitek will be manning a new kind of plate Tuesday night.

The former Red Sox catcher will be a guest judge on the kids’ cooking show, Chopped Junior, alongside chefs Amanda Freitag and Kristen Kish.

Varitek, now a special assistant to the general manager with the Red Sox, will be judging the young contestants as they cook minute steak, break down a bird, and make a tasty dessert out of stuffed fruit and snack cakes, according to The Food Network.

The episode airs Tuesday night at 8 p.m. on The Food Network.
