Be thankful for these open ski areas over Thanksgiving weekend
Sure you can carve turkey on Thanksgiving, or you can carve turns at the nine ski resorts in New England that will be serving up skiing and riding.
While you have been making potatoes and stuffing for your gathering around food, ski resorts in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont have been making piles of snow — thankful for the drop in temperatures the past few nights. While snowfall and resort openings are behind last season (18 in 2014) in the East, and instead the West is getting dumped on (can you say El Nino?), the major snowmaking powerhouses will still provide a White Friday on their slopes for eager skiers in New England who’d rather ski the mountains than shop the malls.
If you want to step away from the table and take in some early ski turns, check out these seven ski areas that are currently open, with 15 projected by the weekend, and more target opening dates for New England ski resorts.
