Watch: Revolution got smoked on this play, but still came out winners
The New England Revolution won their fifth straight game Sunday night, a crucial away result against Toronto FC in a tight fight for Eastern Conference positioning as the MLS playoffs approach.
The 3-1 result, though, may be overshadowed by the play—one play in particular—from MVP candidate Sebastian Giovinco. Watch the 28-year-old Italian put on a clinic in the first half, scooting past two of New England’s better defensive players, Scott Caldwell and Andrew Farrell:

Toronto couldn’t finish on the play, a common theme in a night that saw the Revs win despite being outshot 21-7. The Revs weren’t without their own contribution to the highlight reel, and this one—a Diego Fagundez strike, set up by an alert Lee Nguyen—even had an effect on the scoreboard.

With six games to play, New England sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, good for a playoff spot. They’re within spitting distance of the conference’s two top spots, which would give the club a first-round bye.
