Joey Chestnut has an unusual taste in his mouth this July 4th: Defeat.

America’s longtime hot dog eating king suffered an upset defeat at the hands—and mouth—of competitive eater Matt Stonie in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Saturday. Stonie ate a staggering 62 hot dogs to end Chestnut’s streak of eight straight titles on Coney Island.

“I trained hard for this, and I came prepared,’’ Stonie said after the win, via ESPN.

According to San Jose Mercury News, the 20-year-old Californian is nicknamed “Megatoad’’ and currently majoring in nutrition at Mission College. In a prescient bit of pre-contest promotion, he asked anyone with a Twitter to tweet #DownGoesChestnut.
