Behold the angst of Knicks fans at the NBA draft

The struggle is real.

The struggle has been real for fans of the New York Knicks. It continued during the 2015 NBA Draft.

Coming off a dismal 17-65 season, the Knicks had the fourth overall selection. There was shock, angst and maybe even a few tears among the team’s fans at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday night when NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that the lottery pick was being used to pick Kristaps Porzingis, an intriguing 19-year-old prospect from Latvia.

Porzingis, a 7’1’’ forward with deep shooting range who most recently played for Cajasol Sevilla in Spain, heard the booing.

“I mean a lot of fans weren’t happy that they drafted me, but I have to do everything that’s in my hands to turn those booing fans into clapping fans,’’ Porzingis said, via For The Win. “There’s nothing I can do. I was happy about it. I want to be a part of this organization, and I know the fans are a little harsh sometimes but that’s how it is here in New York and I’m ready for it.’’
