With Tom Brady still facing an early season suspension, the Patriots will reportedly take the time to ink another veteran quarterback, free agent Matt Flynn. Flynn and sophomore Jimmy Garappolo are expected vie for the starting job if Brady does end up missing any time.

Now while no one is expecting another Brady-Bledsoe situation should Tom be out of the lineup too long, some of the most beloved athletes in Boston sports came off the bench. Here’s a look back at some notable names.
