BU Goalie’s Championship Game Blooper is Every Athlete’s Worst Nightmare
It’s the cruelest part of sports.
Boston University goaltender Matt O’Connor’s error Saturday night might have been comical in a different spot. Not in the NCAA Championship game. Not in the third period.
The BU goalie’s failure to corral a routine dump-in by Providence with 11:24 remaining cost the Terriers the lead and quite possibly the title.

O’Connor played himself onto the radar of NHL teams this season, starting in 25 of BU’s 28 victories. He made 39 saves Saturday vs. the Friars. After the game, he said his team deserved better.
“I think we deserved a better result,’’ O’Connor told the Boston Globe. “Everyone in this locker room deserves a national championship.’’
