Revolution’s Jones, Nguyen Called to U.S. National Training Camp
The U.S. men’s national team has called Revolution midfielders Jermaine Jones and Lee Nguyen for its annual January training camp.
Camp opens Monday, January 12th in Carson, California and runs through early February. The national team will play two friendlies in that time span: on the road against Chile on January 28th, and home against Panama on February 8th.
Jones was one of the top performers for the U.S. at the World Cup this summer. He joined the Revs midseason and helped lead them to an appearance in the MLS Cup. Nguyen scored 18 goals in MLS competition in 2014 and was named the Revs team MVP.
Jones and Nguyen will miss the start of Revs camp while with the national team. Midfielder Diego Fagundez will also miss the start of preseason training. He is playing with the under20 national team from Uruguay, his home country. Fagundez moved to Leominster as a teenager and signed with the Revolution in 2010, when he was 15 years old.
