The Head of the Charles Race in 20 Seconds

Ever wonder what the Head of the Charles looks like from a rower’s point of view? This 20-second timelapse of the race shows the surroundings and obstacles from down on the water.

Boston.com spent a day with Boston University women’s rowing team and rode along the watery race route with a camera in hand.

As the gif above shows, there are plenty of bridges for the rowers to cross under, so the cosxwain’s steering abilities are at a premium. But no turn is harder to make than the Weeks Bridge, where rowers have to make an almost 90-degree turn to pass.
