If you are in Brazil watching the World Cup, you can get a little flavor of your homeland if you visit a local hot dog stand.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “at the Metro shopping center across from Arena Corinthians…Wesley Machado was doing a brisk business selling hot dogs themed around seven of the tournament’s 32 teams.’’

It’s called WDOG and it’s got some international flair. All of the buns are dyed the color of the corresponding country’s flag.

1. WDOG Americano (American): Bread, mustard, mayo, sausage, cole slaw, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce. (Because nothing yells ‘America’ like some good ol’ fashioned BBQ sauce.)

2. WDOG Mexicano (Mexican): Bread, sausage, Doritos, guacamole, spicy chilli and pepper. (We thought Doritos were an American delicacy…)

3. WDOG Brasileiro (Brazilian): Bread, sausage, feijoada (beans and meat with sauce), banana flour, bacon and cabbage. (There’s no way you don’t want to try feijoada now.)

4. WDOG Italiano (Italian): Bread, polpetone (a combination of beef, veal and pork) filled with mozzarella cheese, Italian sauce and basil. (The more cheese, the better.)

5. WDOG Japonês (Japanese): Bread, hot roll, sukiyaki (a soup made with beef,) tare sauce (similar to soy sauce), and sesame. (Usually we save soy sauce for our sushi, but we’re willing to give this hot dog a try.)

6. WDOG Alemão (German): Bread, green mayo, German sauce, pickles, mashed potatoes, chucrute (sauerkraut,) caramelized onions, and dark mustard. (We’re not really sure what “German sauce’’ entails, but anything involving mashed potatoes is fine with us.)

7. WDOG Argentino (Argentinian): Bread, garlic mayo, sausage, vinaigrette, yellow pepper and chimichurri sauce. (Garlic mayo? Okay, but just make sure you have a breath mint.)

Which country’s hot dog do you support?
