The Cup is in Las Vegas for tomorrow’s NHL Awards, giving ol’ Stanley a brief respite from being paraded around town. And so to the delight of slighted baseball writers and broadcasters throughout the land, Boston’s collective full focus finally returned to the diamond, and the Red Sox rewarded the returnees with a 14-5 thumping of the Triple-A Padres.
