Media linkage
I swear on a holy stack of Pat Dodson rookie cards to to have a super-sized Sox/baseball column posted no later than Sunday night.
In the meantime, as promised, here’s the link to today’s media column, featuring Phil Simms talking this Sunday’s Patriots game, the third of four straight weeks he and Jim Nantz will call the Pats. Really cool guy to interview, by the way — had a much subtler and sarcastic sense of humor than what I expected from listening to him on Sundays.
Below is a bonus Simms quote that didn’t make the cut. I wish I could have used it, if only because it seems applicable to certain football ”experts” around here:
‘‘I try to explain what’s happening on the field in the simplest terms I can,’’ Simms said. ‘‘I don’t want to hear commentators trying to tell me what’s going on in all those technical terms. ‘Well, he’s in a 7 technique.’ What does that mean? Does he have a 7 on his back? ‘Eight in a box?’ Come on, what is that? All I need to know is that there are a lot of guys on the line of scrimmage, and I think most people watching game feel the same way.’’
