Morning sports update: Tom Brady discussed how he’s acclimated to being away from New England
"Yeah, being in one place for 20 years and then to hear something different I’m sure it takes awhile for everyone to get used to."
The Celtics rallied from a 17-point deficit on Tuesday night to defeat the Pacers, 116-111. Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 27 points.
It’s a quick turnaround for the Celtics, who face the Grizzlies today at 7:30 p.m.
Elsewhere, the Patriots prepare for the team’s season finale on Sunday against the Jets at 1 p.m.
Tom Brady’s comfort level away from New England is rising: It’s been less than 10 months since Tom Brady decided to leave the Patriots in free agency and sign with the Buccaneers.
The 43-year-old quarterback went through the kind of major lifestyle change that he avoided for 20 years, adapting to a new city, team, and climate.
Yet as Patriots fans begin to experience the biting cold that accompanies the first non-playoff year in more than a decade, Brady appears to be basking in the warmth of a 10-5 Buccaneers season.
Asked recently if he’s gotten more used to being another team’s quarterback, the six-time Super Bowl winner explained his process.
“Yeah, being in one place for 20 years and then to hear something different I’m sure it takes a while for everyone to get used to,” Brady told Jim Gray in a recent interview. “It did take a little bit of time for me, but I’ve been at it all season now with the Bucs, so it doesn’t sound quite so different for me.”
Looking ahead, Brady’s Buccaneers face the Falcons in the team’s final game of the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Trivia: The 2011 NBA draft has given the Celtics some notable players, including Kyrie Irving (the No. 1 pick) and Isaiah Thomas (the last pick). What two current Celtics were selected that year?
(Answer at the bottom).
Hint: One was coming off a National Championship win, the other was taken fourth overall by the Cavaliers.
