Tom Brady

Buffalo woman’s viral obituary: ‘She HATED Tom Brady’

Amid her loves of reading and smoking, Carole Scarsella, who passed away on July 19, deeply hated the former Patriots quarterback.

Carole Scarsella was a huge sports fan with a particular distaste for Tom Brady.

Scarsella, a resident of Lackawanna, N.Y., a suburb near Buffalo, passed away on July 19.  Her daughter, Norma Milholland, wrote in her obituary that she loved reading, “smoked millions of cigarettes,” and enjoyed gambling.

“She was an avid sports fan. She loved the New York Yankees and LeBron James. She HATED Tom Brady,” Scarsella’s obit reads.

NBC Sports’ Nick Veronica tweeted out a photo of the obituary on Monday. Scarcella’s granddaughter, Aggie, retweeted Veronica and highlighted her grandmother’s hatred (and the “people of Buffalo’s”) for the former Patriots quarterback.

“This is my grandma. I miss her endlessly,” she wrote in the quote tweet. “But I’m glad she is remembered and the people of buffalo also share her deep rooted hatred of Tom Brady.”

The story has been shared by multiple media outlets, such as the Buffalo News and the New York Post. Aggie believes her grandmother would be stunned at all the attention — but also wants her to be remembered as a great woman who, yes, disliked Brady. During Brady’s 20-year run in the AFC East, also home to the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots won the division 17 times.

“I can’t imagine what she would say about all the attention she’s getting… but I’m sure she would love the message being passed on!” she tweeted, adding: “This be a lot now, but while you’re remembering her hatred of Tom Brady also remember that she was probably the best woman ever and did a lot for her kids and grandkids!”
