Super Bowl

The New York Daily News seems quite happy the Patriots lost the Super Bowl

New York sports fans would have loved to see both the Patriots and Eagles lose Super Bowl LII, but they’ll take New England’s defeat as a consolation prize.

“For the Birds!,” blares the cover of Monday’s New York Daily News. The Philadelphia Eagles left U.S. Bank Stadium carrying the Lombardi Trophy after beating the Patriots 41-33 in a thrilling shootout between two high-flying offenses.

The teams set a record for the most total yards in a Super Bowl with a combined 1,151. Tom Brady passed for 505 yards and added three touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to capture his sixth Super Bowl title.

The Daily News isn’t overjoyed that “hated Philly” won its first Super Bowl, but seemed quite pleased by the fact that “Brady and evil Pats blow it.”
