Forget the Vegas oddsmakers. The only prognosticators you need when it comes correctly predicting this year’s Super Bowl champion might just be these puppies.
Nine golden retrievers made an appearance on Thursday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to share their verdict on whether the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons would emerge victorious in Super Bowl LI.
The methodology, as laid out by Fallon, was fairly simple. Two bowls of puppy chow were placed on a stage: one representing the Patriots and the other representing the Falcons. Whichever dish garnered more hungry puppies denoted the winner.
Unfortunately for New England, the Pats’ kibble came up short, as the majority of puppies made a mad dash to score a bite from Atlanta’s dish.
“The Falcons will be crowned Super Bowl champs!” Fallon announced. “Congratulations, Atlanta!”
For those doubting canine predictive abilities, the puppies did correctly pick the Denver Broncos as last year’s Super Bowl champs.
While the puppies boast some other impressive forecasts, including a 2013 prediction that the Red Sox would win the World Series, don’t fret just yet, Pats fans. The crew also wrongly selected the Seattle Seahawks to defeat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX.
