Conan O’Brien gave James White a truck for his Super Bowl performance

Patriots running back James White set Super Bowl records for the most receptions (14) and most points scored (20) in New England’s 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. But he still lost out on the Super Bowl MVP award to quarterback Tom Brady, and didn’t receive the free automobile that occasionally comes with the trophy.
Brady said he thought White deserved a truck during a post-Super Bowl press conference on Monday, but it turns out Brady couldn’t give him one like he did with Malcolm Butler after being named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 because there was no truck to give this year.
However, on Thursday’s episode of Conan, Brookline native Conan O’Brien stepped in and rewarded White with a white Ford F-150.

For his part, White said that he appreciated Brady’s kind words, but that his quarterback was definitely worthy of the MVP title.
“I wouldn’t get 14 catches if he wasn’t throwing me the ball,” White told O’Brien. “He’s more than well deserving of that award. He’s our leader. He’s the reason we fought back into that game.”
