Boston Legacy FC continue to fill out the team’s roster ahead of its NWSL debut, announcing the signing of Ugandan striker Fauzia Najjemba on Thursday morning.
Najjemba, 22, joins Boston on a two-year deal that also includes a mutual option to renew. She signed with the club as a free agent following her departure from Dynamo Moscow.
Prior to Dynamo, Najjemba featured for Shymkent in the Kazakhstan first division, helping them to win the league in 2022. Najjemba then played for Shymkent in UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying.
At the international level, Najjemba has represented Uganda at the U-20 and senior levels, scoring for her country in the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations qualifying.
“I’m really excited to join Boston Legacy,” said Najjemba, per the club’s announcement. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to give my all for the team. I’m so proud to represent Boston and eager to get to work.”
With the signing of Najjemba, Boston — which now has 22 players under contract — has officially hit the minimum roster size required by NWSL rules.
The club will begin its first training camp in January, and plays its NWSL inaugural home game on March 14 at Gillette Stadium.
