Boston Legacy FC continues to add to its expansion roster ahead of the team’s inaugural preseason in January.

The Legacy announced the signing of Canadian forward Amanda Allen on a two-year contract that also includes a club option to renew on Friday. Allen, 20, joins Boston as a free agent.

Having originally joined the Orlando Pride as the club’s youngest signing at age 18, Allen made 11 appearances over two seasons. She also featured for USL Super League side Lexington Sporting Club and Halifax Tides FC in the Canadian Northern Super League in separate loan stints.

“Amanda is a young player with a very high ceiling,” said Boston Legacy general manager Domè Guasch. “At just 20, she already has NWSL experience and has earned caps with the Canadian National Team.”

Allen, who represented Canada at multiple youth levels prior to her professional career, cited both the club’s vision and the Legacy’s Portuguese head coach, Filipa Patão, as factors in her decision to sign.

“They want to build something that is centered around family, and that is huge for me,” Allen said of joining Boston, per the club’s announcement. “I’m very close with my family, and I understand how crucial it is to feel like you’re comfortable in a space, feel like you have teammates and support around you at all times.

“The second thing is Filipa [Patão], the head coach. She’s very invested into young players,” Allen added. “I’m so excited to work with her, and she’s somebody who I really want to play for. I really want to show her what I’m capable of, and show Boston what I’m capable of as well.”

The Legacy will make the club’s home debut in the NWSL regular season on March 14 at Gillette Stadium.
