Boston Legacy FC have announced the first transfer in the team’s young history.
Barbara Olivieri, a 23-year-old attacking midfielder, was signed via a transfer from the Houston Dash, according to a team announcement on Friday morning. The deal runs through the 2029 season.
The total value of the transfer fee paid to Houston is $165,000, broken into four parts: $50,000 in 2025 intra-league transfer funds, $50,000 in 2026 intra-league transfer funds, $35,000 in conditional intra-league transfer funds, and $30,000 in conditional expansion allocation money. Olivieri will join Mexican side Club Tigres UANL for the remainder of 2025 on loan, and will then begin her Boston Legacy tenure in January prior to the team’s debut season in the NWSL.
A native of Katy, Texas, Olivieri (whose parents immigrated from Venezuela) represents Venezuela at the international level. She played for the South American nation at the recent Copa América Femenina 2025.
At the club level, Olivieri has featured for both C.F. Monterrey Femenil and the Dash. She also played at the college level for two seasons at Texas A&M, winning the 2020 SEC Freshman of the Year award.
“Olivieri is a creative and dynamic player who despite her young age brings us a wealth of experience both domestically and internationally. As a regular in the NWSL, she has impacted high level games. She suits the team’s style of play and will be a strong addition to what we continue to build at Boston Legacy FC,” said Boston General Manager Domè Guasch in the team’s announcement.
“We are thrilled to welcome Barb to Boston, and our fans can look forward to the impact that she will have on and off the field.”
The Legacy have now signed seven players ahead of the club’s inaugural season in 2026. Olivieri joins a midfield contingent that already includes defensive midfielder Annie Karich, Alba Caño (formerly of Barcelona), and ex-Glasgow City FC standout Aleigh Gambone.
