Roush Fenway shared an update on Ryan Newman after Daytona 500 crash
"The veteran driver is fully alert and walking around Halifax Medical Center."
After being involved in a fiery crash on the last lap of the Daytona 500 on Monday, Ryan Newman is fully alert and walking while remaining hospitalized at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Roush Fenway Racing shared an update to Twitter on Wednesday.
“Ryan Newman continues to show great improvement after Monday night’s last-lap accident at Daytona International Speedway,” read a statement. “The veteran driver is fully alert and walking around Halifax Medical Center. True to his jovial nature, he has also been joking around with staff, friends and family while spending time playing with his two daughters.”
Roush Fenway also posted a photo of Newman standing with his daughters, Brooklyn and Ashlyn.

The 42-year-old driver was described as in serious condition but with non-life-threatening after being removed from his vehicle Monday night. He was pressured hard right and into the outside wall, flipping his car before he was hit by Corey LaJoie.
