Morning sports update: What Josh Gordon had to say about Tom Brady’s impact

The Celtics defeated the Knicks on Thursday, 128-100. The Bruins fell to the Lightning, 3-2.
Both teams resume Saturday night. The Bruins host the Maple Leafs at 7 p.m., while the Celtics travel to play the Bulls at 8 p.m.
Josh Gordon talked about having a locker next to Tom Brady’s: Patriots receiver Josh Gordon has continued to acclimate to life in New England after being traded from the Browns in September. Gordon was immediately given the locker right next to quarterback Tom Brady. Several months into his time with the Patriots, Gordon discussed what he’s learned being next to Brady.
“It’s good to be able to be in such close proximity to learn from him. I look up to the guy,” Gordon told ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “He’s done everything right, so I just enjoy the time being around him.”
For the 27-year-old receiver, who has 34 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns with the Patriots, the 41-year-old quarterback has lived up to his expectations.
“I came in with the idea he was a hard-working guy, and he’s done nothing but shown that continuously and consistently,” said Gordon. “He’s a family man, he loves his family, FaceTiming with his kids, which is something I can relate to with my family, my kids. He enjoys the game and everything that comes with it.”

: Starting with the Jaguars in Week 2, opponents that defeated Bill Belichick’s team have subsequently produced puzzling results. Jacksonville, Detroit, and Tennessee — the three teams that have defeated New England — haven’t used the marquee win as a springboard. If anything, it’s been the opposite. [The Boston Globe]
