The Celtics and Bruins both play at 7:30 p.m. tonight, with the Celtics hosting the Knicks while the Bruins face the Red Wings in Detroit.

Rob Gronkowski was the subject of a strong take from a New York writer: Jets and NFL reporter Manish Mehta, who writes for the New York Daily News, delivered a string of strong accusations about the decline of Rob Gronkowski in his recent column.

“He is a decrepit version of his former indestructible self, a beaten and battered prized fighter who looks sad and lost,” Mehta wrote about Gronkowski in his opening sentence. And he continued to pillory Gronkowski throughout the lengthy piece.

“Alas, that Gronk is gone,” Mehta wrote of the Patriots’ tight end’s past success, “replaced by this prideful, wobbly 6-6, 268-pound dude plodding along like some tip-calculator-carrying resident of Del Boca Vista. His body is 29 going on 92. Watching him run around on the few fall Sundays that he’s actually available is cringe-worthy stuff.”

And Mehta guaranteed that this will be Gronkowski’s last year in New England.

“There’s literally a 0.00 percent chance that Gronk will make the $9 million base salary he’s scheduled to earn on the final year of his contract in 2019,” Mehta wrote. “The Patriots will save $10 million when – not if – he’s off the books.”
