Bobby Orr sounded off on the current Bruins: With the release of his new book, “Bobby: My story in pictures,” the hockey legend made an appearance on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s “Toucher & Rich.” He was asked which current Bruin reminds him of himself.
“I think Charlie [McAvoy],” Orr said. “Charlie’s got a little offense in him. You know with the Bruins, [Brandon] Carlo, was watching him last night, he’s up the ice a little bit now too, which is great. I thought the Bruins played really well last night. They deserved the win in regulation.”
Boston won 2-1 in overtime.
Orr also offered an intriguing response to the perpetual question of whether another defenseman can win the Art Ross Trophy, which is awarded for most points in a season.
“Someone not long ago asked, ‘Will another defenseman win the scoring [title]?’ And I said I don’t think so,” he said. “Well why not? Because [the game] won’t let them, with the shooting the puck up the glass. I mean you have to motor with it if you’re going to be up there, and they don’t play like that anymore.”
Orr famously won the Art Ross Trophy twice, and remains the only defenseman to ever do so.

The fundamental problem with the Celtics
: Despite a deep lineup, the Celtics have encountered a glaring issue in this young NBA season. It was there for all to see in the team’s disappointing Monday night loss in Denver. [Boston Globe]
Boston College’s stern test awaits: At 7-2, BC football is off to its best start since the Matt Ryan era over a decade ago. On Saturday night, the upstart Eagles will be given their greatest test of the season by far, as the second-ranked Clemson Tigers roll into town. [Boston Globe]
Tedy Bruschi weighs in on a former Patriot who’s now their Week 10 opponent:
Vintage Vrabel victory. Dig yourselves out of a rough start. Grind. Battle. Make plays when it counts. Win in the end. As a player, now a coach. #TitanUp #SaluteToService

Speaking of the Titans, safety Kevin Byard didn’t shy away from making a statement in Dallas: No stranger to controversy, Kevin Byard mimicked Terrell Owens by running to the star in Dallas after making a critical interception on Monday night:

Looking at Cordarelle Patterson’s performance as a running back: Having been pressed into service at running back purely through injuries, Cordarrelle Patterson â normally a wide receiver â has performed admirably. His play against the Packers, which included a touchdown, begs the question: Was he always meant to be a running back? [NESN]
Daily highlight: On a 5-3 against the Stars in overtime, Brad Marchand made no mistake with his winning goal:
