The Hartford Yard Goats’ new baseball stadium is combining Dunkin’ Donuts fare with ballpark food

It is Dunkin' Donuts Park, after all.

Much has been made about the growing trend of eclectic ballpark food. It’s a formidable wave that has even swept Fenway Park. But for all the lobster at Fenway, the Hartford Yard Goats have perhaps the most New England-twist on their concessions.

Given the name of the Yard Goats’ new stadium Dunkin’ Donuts Park — which celebrates its home-opener Thursday night, the same day of another significant local sports anniversary –the outcome might be obvious. Fenway Park has had the region’s favorite coffee available at the park for more than a decade now, but nothing like this.

As the Hartford Courant diligently reported Wednesday, the new stadium’s concession include a couple Dunkin’ Donuts-ballpark crossover foods.

Chief among them is the munchkin and chicken skewer, which, as the name suggests, combines the Canton-based chain’s famous doughnut holes with boneless barbecue chicken wings.

The stick-based invention looks like the portable cousin of chicken and waffles.

Batting second is the “BLTDD,” a bacon-lettuce-tomato sandwich between two glazed Dunkin’ Donuts doughnuts.

Of course, as the Courant reports, Dunkin’ Donuts Park will also serve other, less brand-synchronized food at their stadium as well, including traditional ballpark food and dishes from local restaurants.

But what’s a baseball game without the increasingly over-the-top snacks? (OK, yes, probably still a baseball game.)
