Growth for hurling in the US beyond Boston? ‘The possibilities are endless’

Two years ago, when they staged a hurling exhibition match between Dublin and Galway at Fenway Park, organizers were hoping 10,000 people might show up to watch Ireland’s national sport, a lightning-fast, sort of cross between lacrosse and field hockey.

Three times as many showed up on a rainy, raw November day that felt like, well, Ireland.

Hurling is coming back to Fenway. Fenway Sports Management is expected to announce the fall date this month. But the story behind the story is about those behind the match: the Gaelic Players Association.
