Celebrities react to Aly Raisman and the U.S. women’s gymnastics team’s gold medal win

Even the rich and famous were left in awe of the team’s accomplishments.

Needham native Aly Raisman thanked an NFL quarterback for his support last night — but it wasn’t Tom Brady.Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was one of many celebrities who congratulated Raisman and the rest of the “Final Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics team for taking home the gold medal in the team competition Tuesday, leaving spectators in Rio and audiences at home in awe.

While the heavily favored team captured gold in runaway fashion in the early evening, many famous viewers watched the tape-delayed competition on NBC in primetime, staying up late and tweeting their congratulations as they watched with the rest of the nation. Among those celebs: Pittsfield native Elizabeth Banks and Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones.
