For 30 years, your voice filled Walter Brown and Agganis. A great man and a dedicated friend. Rest in peace, Jim. pic.twitter.com/11HyNzhLzs

The Arlington native died Saturday, according to his obituary.
Prior, who was worked with Boston University for 30 years and was inducted into the MA Hockey Hall of Fame, is most known for his announcing at both the Beanpot and Hockey East tournaments, and for his puck drop mantra: “The teams are ready, so let’s play hockey.” He was also a 20-year Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, a Boston College alum, expressed his condolences for his alma mater’s college hockey rival in a tweet Sunday morning.
The BU community lost a legend in Jim Prior, the voice of BU hockey whose love for the game was contagious. He will be deeply missed.
