Maine college basketball player’s foul-line dunk video goes viral
With all apologies to the Red Claws, Maine has never been known as a source of head-turning feats on the basketball court.
If for only a moment in time, Pat Dickert could change that.
The Colby College junior became somewhat of a viral sensation, after the 6-foot-2 guard posted a video of himself dunking from the foul line.

Views of the video Dickert posted on Instagram climbed past 235,000 by Wednesday. The YouTube version has also garnered more than 100,000 views.
The 21-year-old, who is a Hatfield, Massachusetts, native and attended Deerfield Academy, told the Portland Press-Herald that the dunk captured in his now-viral video was actually the first time he ever actually completed the foul-line dunk (a previous video posted weeks earlier shows him barely missing, with the caption “I’ll get this someday”).
Dickert followed up his foul-line dunk with a compilation video over the weekend showcasing his full dunk repertoire.

A video from last spring also shows him clearing his 7-foot-tall Danish teammate.
Apparently for some, his dunks are literally unbelievable.
“I get asked if I lowered the hoop but I didn’t,” Dickert told the Press-Herald. “I don’t even know how to lower a hoop.”
Additionally, Colby College’s basketball coach, Damien Strahorn, confirmed to the Press-Herald that Dickert is indeed no more than his listed 6-foot-2.
“To think about the athletes you see do it in the NBA dunk contest, for him to do it at his size is remarkable,” Strahorn said.
Now, Dickert says, he just needs to work on his jump shot.
