Doug Flutie to join cast of Dancing with the Stars
He moved well in the pocket. Will he move well on the stage?
Doug Flutie didn’t get a Vince Lombardi trophy, but he’ll compete for the Mirrorball trophy. The former Patriots, Bills, and Boston College quarterback will join season 22 of Dancing with the Stars, according to USMagazine.com.
Flutie’s partner will be Karina Smirnoff, a professional ballroom dancer who has danced 11 seasons on Dancing with the Stars, and won the competition with soap opera star J. R. Martinez in 2011.
The 53-year-old former football star will join Denver Broncos Von Miller and Pittsburgh Steeler Antonio Brown, who will also compete this season. And there’s precedent of an NFL player winning. Former Steelers wideout Hines Ward won the Mirrorball in season 12 in the spring of 2011.
Flutie, who was famous for “the miracle in Miami’’ during his college football career at Boston College, may be looking for another hail mary amid this year’s competition.
The season premiere airs at 8 p.m on Monday, March 21.
