11 New England ski areas planning to open during Thanksgiving week
The list includes the first Massachusetts resort to open in the new season.
Just in time for the holiday, New England resorts are giving skiers and snowboarders plenty to be thankful for.
After an anxious few weeks in early November when mild temperatures remained pervasive, colder weather settled in for Thanksgiving week. And the ski areas of the region are pouncing at the opportunity to open for the season.
Killington, which is hosting the Audi FIS Ski World Cup on November 26-27, has been open since late October. Now, others are joining the Vermont resort.
Here’s a list of several New England resorts that are either planning to open or have already opened during the holiday week:
Bretton Woods, NH: November 22
Cannon Mountain, NH: November 25
Jay Peak, VT: November 25
Jiminy Peak, MA: November 25
Loon Mountain, NH: November 23
Mount Snow, VT: November 23
Stowe, VT: November 23
Stratton, VT: November 24
Sugarbush, VT: November 23
Sugarloaf, ME: November 24
Sunday River, ME: November 23
