Recently, the PWHL released the list of players that have the opportunity to be selected at the league’s third draft on June 24.
The league, which began as six teams and is now expanding to eight, uses the Gold Plan to determine the order.
The Gold Plan was made by statistician Adam Gold, who proposed the plan at the Sloan Analytics conference in 2012. The idea is that the team with the most wins after being eliminated from playoff contention receives better picks. Prior to the addition of two expansion teams, the two teams that were eliminated from playoffs competed against each other for more wins to get the better choices. The team that did not reach the playoffs and that had the fewest points automatically gets at least second pick.
There has not been a release of the finalized order.
The list that was announced last week includes players from each school involved in the Beanpot tournament: Boston College, Northeastern, Boston University and Harvard.
Here is what you need to know about the Boston-based players that could be selected to join the league.
