One of the Boston Fleet’s top players could be in line for some major hardware in the coming weeks.
The PWHL announced on Thursday that Fleet netminder Aerin Frankel was voted as a finalist for the league’s Goaltender of the Year Award.
Frankel is joined by Montreal’s Ann-Renée Desbiens and Ottowa’s Gwyneth Philips as finalists for the award, which will be handed out at the PWHL Awards on June 25 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa.
Frankel becomes the first ever two-time finalist for PWHL Goaltender of the Year, with the 25-year-old netminder leading the league with 23 starts, 1342:18 minutes played, and 591 saves during the 2024-25 season.

Frankel finished second in the league with 12 wins, second among starting goaltenders with a .921 save percentage, and fifth with a 2.28 GAA. The former Northeastern University standout regularly thrived in high-pressure situations, leading the league with five games with 35 or more saves and going 3-0-0 this year in shootouts.
The two-time IIHF Women’s Worlds gold medalist figures to have a tough challenger for the award in Desbiens — as the 31-year-old Montreal goalie league with 15 wins, a 1.86 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage.
A selection committee voted on the awards between the end of the regular season and the playoffs — with the three players who received the most votes announced as finalists.
