After a dominant second season in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) ranks, Boston Fleet captain Hilary Knight was named one of three finalists for the PWHL’s Forward of the Year on Tuesday.
Knight is joined by Montreal’s Marie-Philip Poulin and New York’s Sarah Fillier as finalists for the award — which will be handed out at the PWHL Awards on June 25 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa.
After a dip in production during the PWHL’s inaugural season in 2024 (11 points in 24 games), Knight was a force on the ice for the Fleet this year — posting 29 points over 30 games.
Knight scored 15 goals and 14 assists — with the 35-year-old forward becoming the first player in PWHL history to score a hat-trick as part of a record-tying four-point game on March 5 against New York.
Knight finished the year tied with Fillier as the league’s leading scorer with 29 points, while Poulin led the PWHL in goals this year with 19.
Toronto’s Natalie Spooner won the PWHL Forward of the Year Award in 2024, beating out Poulin and New York’s Alex Carpenter.
A selection committee voted on the awards between the end of the regular season and the playoffs — with the three players who received the most votes announced as finalists.
