On Friday, the Boston Fleet signed forward Kelly Babstock to a Standard Player Agreement, or SPA, for the rest of the 2024-25 season, according to the PWHL.
This agreement comes after the team moved forward Jillian Dempsey to the Reserve Player List, a designation for players who are temporarily unavailable to play for injury or other reasons.
“Heading into such a crucial part of the season, we knew Kelly Babstock would bring the spark we need on and off the ice,” said Fleet General Manager Danielle Marmer in a statement. “No one brings more energy and compete to the rink than Babs. Every game and every point is on the line for our playoff push and we’re excited to have her along with us for this push.”

Babstock began this season on the Reserve Player List before she was activated on a 10-day contract on Jan. 2, after which she played in three games. In the league’s inaugural season, Babstock played for the Fleet in four regular-season games and all eight playoff games. She collected one assist last season.
Before the PWHL, Babstock played for a season in the Switzerland Women’s Hockey League in 2023-24. She played three seasons for the Metropolitan Riveters in the Professional Hockey Federation, which was formerly the NWHL. The Quinnipiac University alum played four seasons with the NWHL from 2015 to 2019.
