Aly Raisman blasts TSA agent on Twitter for ‘rude and uncomfortable’ comments
Needham native Aly Raisman has returned from her vacation in Turks & Caicos, but not without a hitch.
According to Raisman’s Twitter account, two TSA agents commented on the Olympic gymnast’s figure while she was at the airport. A female employee reportedly said she recognized Raisman by her biceps, to which a male employee responded: “I don’t see any muscles.”
Lady at TSA: “Gymnast? I recognized u by ur biceps”
Man at TSA: “I don’t see any muscles” & continues 2 stare at me
How rude & uncomfortable— Alexandra Raisman (@Aly_Raisman) May 24, 2017
Raisman — who has been very vocal about positive body image and her past experiences with bullying — took to Twitter to express her frustration with the male agent’s comments and subsequent staring, calling him “rude” and “sexist.”
I work very hard to be healthy & fit. The fact that a man thinks he judge my arms pisses me off I am so sick of this judgmental generation.

If u are a man who can’t compliment a girls 💪🏻 you are sexist. Get over yourself. Are u kidding me? It’s 2017. When will this change?

He was very rude. Staring at me shaking his head like it couldn’t be me because I didn’t look “strong enough” to him? Not cool.

Shortly after Raisman shared the incident, TSA apologized to her on Twitter, saying that they expect their officers “to treat everyone with courtesy and respect.”
We’re sorry to hear this, Aly. We expect our officers to treat everyone with courtesy and respect. Pls DM us more details. https://t.co/wLxp0Wphg9
